Going in Style (2017)
Running Time: 96 minutes
Directed by : Zach Braff
Starring: Michael Caine, Morgan Freeman, Alan Arkin, Ann-Margret, John Ortiz
Going in Style is a reboot of a 1979 film of the same title. It tells the tale of three best friends, Willie (Freeman), Joe (Caine), and Albert (Arkin) who decide to rob their bank after they lose their pension funds. Desperate for money, the three friends plan a heist on the very bank that absconded with their pension funds with the help of Jesus (Ortiz).
This is a film that will make you laugh as some of the Hollywood legends come together to enact a light, crime/comedy film. I thought Braff did a good job in modernizing the film and delivering the scenes in an almost traditional format of a heist film with the addition of its comedic elements and great cast. Granted, the film is a little formulaic but it is nonetheless entertaining, and the chemistry between the lead actors was great.
Overall, it’s a fun film to watch after a long day – it is light and entertaining.
