With the release of the International trailer for the next Marvel film, Captain America: Civil War (aka Cap3), not only are the fans going crazy on social media, but some of the members of Team Captain America and Team Iron Man, plus the directors, Anthony and Joe Russo did a fan Q&A on Buzzfeed’s Tumblr.
First off, the trailer is mind boggling and intense enough that it leaves fans wanting the premiere of the film to come faster. Not only do we see some of our beloved Marvel superheroes taking sides due to their conflicting views on whether there should be government regulations on the way the superheroes operate.
Steve Rogers aka Captain America (Chris Evans) wishes to operate without regulation has the support of his best pal, Bucky Barnes aka Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan), Sam Wilson aka Falcon (Anthony Mackie), Clint Barton aka Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner), Wanda Maximoff aka Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen), and Scott Lang aka Ant-Man (Paul Rudd). On the other end, we have Tony Stark aka Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr) who supports the government oversight, with the backing of Natasha Romanoff aka Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), James Rhodes aka War Machine (Don Cheadle), T’Challa aka Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman), Vision (Paul Bettany), and Peter Parker aka Spider-Man (Tom Holland).
Yes, you read correctly, Spidey is back in MCU, with a brand new actor for the role, Tom Holland (best known for his role in The Impossible). And the new Spidey is finally revealed on the latest trailer! Guardians of the Galaxy director, James Gunn have praised Holland for his performance as Peter Parker.
I personally feel a little iffy about Spidey’s new look, but that 10 seconds barely showed much, so who am I to judge so quickly? As for the film, I’m properly psyched to see what the Russo brothers have installed for the fans. Out of all the films in MCU so far, Captain America: Civil War definitely stands out for me. It was definitely more thrilling than the first film, and different from the usual superhero style. So, whether the Russos are able to up their game since Cap2, we’ll have to sit and wait till May before more can be said of this installment of Captain America and the new Spider-Man, alongside the introduction of Black Panther.
Further hyping the film, some of the cast (Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr, Sebastian Stan, Chadwick Boseman) and the directors (Anthony Russo, Joe Russo) of Cap3 answered some fan questions on Buzzfeed’s Tumblr right after the premiere of the trailer. Here are some of my favourite answers from the Q&A:
