In Our Nature is an indie drama that focuses on a weekend getaway gone wrong. Seth (Gilford) and Andie (Malone) planned on the perfect getaway to Seth’s childhood vacation home, a cabin in the woods, away from the city, until Seth’s estranged father, Gil (Slattery) and girlfriend, Vicky (Union) unexpected turn up at the vacation home.

What struck me about this film is the simplicity of the dialogue and storyline as well as its courage to stay true to reality our current day culture and family. It was an honest piece of storytelling. The cast did a wonderful job to bring the story to life, the chemistry between the actors was great, especially between Gilford and Malone. I was especially impressed with Gabrielle Union’s portrayal as well as Zach Gilford’s. The cinematography was beautiful and serve its purpose to conjure the necessary emotions for the respective scenes.

Overall, it was a great little film, perhaps underrated for its beauty and simplicity. Highly recommended to those who love a simple human drama.
