The Roommate (2011)
Running Time: 91 minutes
Directed by: Christian E. Christiansen
Starring: Leighton Meester, Minka Kelly, Cam Gigandet, Danneel Ackles
The Roommate is a thriller about a small town girl who is starting college with the hopes of being a fashion designer one day. Sara Matthews (Kelly) meets her love interest (Gigandet) at a party on the first day in college, and soon begin to bond with her college roommate Rebecca (Meester) rather quickly. But as time passes, strange things started to happen to Sara’s friends and she starts to notice Rebecca’s clingy and suspicious behaviour…
Another stalker-ish, clingy character kind of film being reviewed today, in some ways, from the start of the film till the end, I felt it was just a straight line. Everything went by without much that stood out to me, except for the sudden shrill scream. The storyline was mediocre and predictable. The acting… was so-so.
So, this is going to be a short review, since there’s not much to say about it. Suitable for young adults, to me it’s a B- thriller flick. Even though the cast is a group of up and coming actors, but there wasn’t much to note about their performances here.
